Protein pancakes with blueberry sauce

Protein pancakes with blueberry sauce

We all need an adequate daily intake of protein. Proteins contain different amino acids. There are 20 amino acids in total, but nine of them are referred to as essential amino acids, meaning the body itself cannot produce them.

Why include proteins in your diet?

1) Proteins are important for building and repairing cells in the body, including muscles, various organs, connective tissue, skin and hair.

2) Proteins are important for weight control, as they contribute to a high degree of satiety and reduce snacking.

3) Proteins help stabilize blood sugar levels compared to fast carbohydrates.
Proteins are important for the immune system. The body uses proteins to make enzymes, hormones and antibodies that are important for the immune system and metabolism.

4) Proteins are also important for recovery after exercise. During the exercise, muscle tissue breaks down. Proteins are necessary for stimulating protein synthesis and repairing damage, helping us become stronger.

How much protein per day?

For healthy adults, protein intake should account for 10-20% of total energy intake. 0.8 g protein per kilogram of body weight each day.

We recommend trying this recipe for healthy and delicious protein pancakes. These pancakes contain cottage cheese, which is a good source of protein. Tip: For an extra fibre boost, you can add 1-2 tsp. berry powder to the recipe. Berry powder also adds a fresh, wild-berry flavour to the pancakes, plus natural antioxidants and a delicate natural colour.

Recipe
( 1 serving = 6 pancakes)
1.5 dl Oatmeal (easy-cooked)
2 pcs Eggs
3 tbsp Cottage cheese
0.25 tsp Salt
1 tsp Baking powder
1 dl Skimmed milk
1-2 tsp Berry powder (choose your favorite)

Instruction
Pour the oatmeal (easy-cooked), salt, baking powder, cottage cheese, eggs, and berry powder into a bowl and mix well. If you prefer a smoother batter, you can use a hand blender. Thin with milk if you prefer a looser consistency.

Place the frying pan on medium heat. Add a little butter to the frying pan and use a small ladle or spoon to make small pancakes. Once they have started to set on top, flip them until golden.

Serve the pancakes with fresh berries, sliced banana and berry sauce. We recommend blueberry sauce with a natural sweetener, preferably with some berry sprinkles. For small children who often prefer a slightly sweeter taste, you can mix a little mashed banana into the batter to make the pancakes a little sweeter. Check out our wide selection of berry powders and berry sauces. The berry sauces are made with only natural sweeteners and are sugar-free. Order today.
