Simple Homemade Blueberry Yogurt
We recommend this simple recipe for homemade blueberry yoghurt that not only tastes heavenly, but is also very healthy. Many yogurts on the market, marketed as "light" or high in protein, unfortunately, contain a lot of additives, and large portion of high-protein yogurts contain artificial sweeteners. Artificial sweeteners are associated with several adverse health effects. These are some of the most important reasons:
1. Studies suggest that artificial sweeteners can increase the risk of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and overall mortality.
2. Artificial sweeteners can lead to weight gain, Studies show that sweeteners (such as sucralose) can increase hunger and disrupt blood sugar regulation.
3. Artificial sweeteners can also cause indigestion. Many people experience stomach pain, bloating and gas when consuming sweeteners.
4. Up to 70-80% of the body's immune system is located in the gut, making a balanced gut flora crucial for staying healthy. Research suggests that artificial sweeteners can negatively affect the gut flora.
5. Consuming artificial sweeteners leads to unhealthy habits and a desire for sweet tastes, which makes it more difficult to get used to a lower sugar intake.
6. Helsenorge recommends avoiding artificial sweeteners for children under three years of age due to low body weight and the precautionary principle.
Although these artificial sweeteners are considered safe to use in foods in Norway, these findings warrant concern and limit their intake.
